Here I Come, Boys!

Rachel Alexandra, with her game face on, heading to the paddock yesterday with assistant trainer Scott Blasi.

She looked like a dead duck at around the 1/16 pole. The pace was too fast and she had every right to fold...but she didn't.

She's got HOY for sure. The most remarkable campaign for a 3y.o. filly that anyone has ever seen. They'd be crazy to run her again this year.

Zenyatta and the Breeders Cup are out in the cold.

Agree 100%. I heard from multiple people that she looked dead tired afterwards, rightfully so. I can't see when or why she'd run again this year, because I doubt she'd be ready to go for October 3rd.

I dunno, IF Zenyatta wins out including the best of the rest in the world in the Classic, might be closer than you think.

Are you kidding? Zenyatta has only been racing on that "industrial Track." Rachel Has raced on how many different racetracks, and beaten the boys 3 times? Give us a break! Zenyatta couldn't even shine Rachel's shoes?

Zenyatta is a terrific beast of a mare, but I agree in order for her to have any chance at horse of the year she needs to win the BC Classic and then the Japan Cup Dirt. Even then it might not be enough and since her connections are too conservative it'll never happen anyhow.

The Mosses and Shirrefs have nobody but themselves to blame. Running a horse 5 times on the West Coast only is not a true HOTY campaign. She can win the Lady's Secret and BC Classic, and it's still about halfway to RA's accomplishments.

Rachel rocked the house.

I know this thread has moved on but if you think winning the BC Classic does not put Zenyatta in the ball park with RA in the eyes of the voters you do not understand who votes for Eclipse awards.

If RA is done for the year, and Zenyatta wins out and beats the "great" Euro entrants in the process, she is odds on to win the Eclipse. May not be fair, and the public will not understand, but that is what will happen.
