Fan of the Game

I guess you can't make out the nice tan..

Better yet, the Rangers crushed the Devils in a crucial 3-0 win, played before a raucous Monday night crowd warming up for what we hope will be the playoffs in two weeks. It was a spirited effort all around, and a thorough beating of their chippy and frustrated cross river rivals, losers of five in a row. With Henrik Lundqvist in the nets, the Rangers are 18-6-4 against the Devils record-setting crybaby goalie Martin Brodeur. The Broadway Blueshirts remain in a precarious spot however, with a small cushion over 9th place Florida, and a tough schedule ahead in their final five games. I remain upbeat, as I and just a relative handful of others has throughout the season; but they're not in yet.

Was at the game; nice to see you up on the screen. How was the center ice photo?

Thanks, it was awesome on the ice after the game! Should have a photo to post before too long. They made me, as well as my two seatmates, sign a release protecting the Garden in case I slipped and broke my neck!

Martin a Cry Baby---You Gotta be kidding me----At least you called him a record setting cry baby----Thats OK--I thought Patrick Roy was a cry baby----In a deck hockey Championship, I had too many at the bar---Told him----When we played his team---I think that comment cost me 36 stitches...

Go Devils

BTW Happy Birthday-

Good win for NY but still too soon to be talking trash. They are on the playoff bubble, an embarrassing position for a team picked to win it all.

Win it all? Who picked them to do that? Fischler?

And on another note: though I tend not to get outraged about ref's calls...how the hell does Avery get a roughing penalty for standing there, holding his stick, and getting thrown to the ice twice in the third period???

Avery should get a penalty for just being Avery. What a classless dolt.

Save us Obama:

"Once proud Santa Anita has been a shell of its heyday, caught in the vortex of a company bankruptcy that threatens to devour all of Frank Stronach's properties. Golden Gate Fields, Santa Anita's sister track to the North, is no better off. There were no races at Golden Gate on March 26, a Thursday, because not enough horses were entered to support a card. The two previous Thursdays, Golden Gate could only round up enough horses for seven-race cards.

Without Golden Gate, there is no suitable venue in Northern California worthy of year-round racing status. Bay Meadows, closed for good last year, is a rubble, its commercial redevelopment in limbo. Bay Meadows' sister track, Hollywood Park, is staggering from one meet to the next, still committed to closing the doors once the economy rights itself and banks start loaning developers money again. It is an irony that the worse the country goes, the better Hollywood's chances of staying open for another meet, another year.

Even Del Mar's boutique meet, run at a state-managed fairgrounds, is not bullet-proof. For the first time in decades, Del Mar will be dark on Mondays, a reflection of the dwindling horse population. More dates at Del Mar are not the answer. It is located in a market that would not be receptive to an extended meet.

Fairplex Park, the bullring in Pomona, which runs an abbreviated fair meet at the end of summer, has circulated grandiose architectural plans over the years, portraying itself as an alternate in Southern California, but its financing has always been laced with more questions than answers. Starting in May, Fairplex will close its stable area for several months, forcing dozens of trainers to look for other training facilities. Fairplex does not have the look of a venue that will ride to the rescue."

Most excited guy in the arena was probably Blair Betts!

I thought maybe he'd come out and hug me during the center ice photo, but no luck. Still say, one of these days, he's gonna score a historic goal for us..

Teresa - For the same reason he can get abused on the ice and not draw a penalty. The refs seem to have it in for him as much as the players do. Meanwhile, the guy is just going about his business and helping the team win, as usual.

Avery draws more penalties than anyone on the ice, you can look it up.

B's shut out Rangers, 1-Zp this afternoon. We wish you all the best but Bruins fans really want to see Montreal in the playoffs. For Bruins fans, winning anything just isn't the same unless it goes through Montreal. Just as Sox fans need the cathartic release of pounding the Yankees before they feel like they've won anything.
